Tonight we take a musical look at Percy Bysshe Shelley, the renowned Romantic poet of the 19th century, celebrated for his lyrical verse and revolutionary spirit. His works, including “Ode to the West Wind” and “To a Skylark,” embody themes of freedom, nature, and social reform, leaving an indelible mark on English literature. Shelley’s impassioned poetry continues to inspire readers worldwide, reminding us of the enduring power of words to provoke thought and stir the soul.
Join us for a performance presenting the life and loves of poet Shelley. Conceived by pianist Nigel Foster.
Shelley portrayed by actor Nigel Parkin, Mary Shelley by Christina Maude with violinist Andrew Bernardi. Songs written by Parry, Quilter, Bridge, Warlock, Delius, Maude Valérie White, Adela Maddison, and Granville Bantock.
