We enjoyed a packed audience last weekend at Shipley Parish Church where we shared a wonderful evening that celebrated music from six English composers.
The concert opened celebrating 400 years of William Byrd with “Ave Verum Corpus” performed by the West London Synagogue Choir and the Bernardi Music Group. The evening included performances from the Horsham Chamber Choir directed by Tim Peters, and composer Malcolm Singer also conducted his “Shipley Psalms” commissioned to mirror the Bernstein Chichester Psalms.
The Shipley Church Choir performed with Peter Sanderson, his composition “Ave Verum Corpus” – Motet for Choir and Organ before the whole congregation joined together in fine voice to sing John Ireland’s well loved hymn “My Song is Love Unknown”.
It was a truly memorable evening, reflecting the underlying values of the Bernardi Music Group of bringing people and communities together to enjoy, celebrate and perform music across generations and different communities.
We hope to see you at our next Shipley Arts Festival concert soon.
