Building connections through music
Bernardi Music Group (BMG) has been developing musical and educational connections in Hong Kong and China for almost a decade, building on more than 25 years of performance and music education in the UK.
Through its work with Trinity Sannyi Music Academy (TSMA), BMG has created opportunities for young musicians from Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China and the UK to learn, rehearse and perform together.
These programmes bring BMG’s performance-led approach to an international setting, combining musical development with collaboration and cultural exchange. Alongside BMG’s established work in China, please explore BMG International’s work in India.

Why This Programme?
Music develops through playing with others. Rehearsing and performing as part of an ensemble asks young musicians to listen, respond and communicate, while developing confidence in their own playing.
Bringing students together from different musical and cultural backgrounds adds another dimension to that experience. Working closely together in rehearsals and performances gives students the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from one another and discover different approaches to making music.
Beyond the rehearsal room, sharing the experience with musicians from other countries creates friendships and connections that are an important part of the programme.
Who Can Take Part?
The programme welcomes young musicians aged 12 and above who want to develop their playing, perform with others and experience music in an international setting.
At its heart is the experience of making music together through rehearsals, performances and other shared musical activities. Specific musical requirements, tutors and programme details vary from year to year and can be found in the current Summer School prospectus.

Our Summer School
The Summer School brings young musicians together for an intensive programme of tuition, rehearsal, ensemble playing and performance, alongside opportunities to experience Hong Kong and build friendships beyond the rehearsal room.
Each Summer School is shaped around the musicians, tutors and opportunities of that year.
Full details, including dates, eligibility, repertoire and application information, can be found in the current prospectus.
A longstanding partnership
At the heart of this collaboration is the friendship between Andrew Bernardi and Nicholin Choi, together with a shared commitment to creating opportunities for young musicians and bringing people together through music.
Together, BMG and TSMA continue to develop opportunities for young musicians from Hong Kong, China and the UK to learn and perform alongside one another.
